Sensory Friendly Films at AMC Theatres

This weekend, our whole family is going to see the Muppets movie – but not at your average screening. We’re going to a special screening put on by Sensory Friendly Films at AMC Theaters.

From their website:

AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the “Sensory Friendly Films” program.

What an outstanding idea! And kudos to AMC Theatres for stepping up and supporting children with disabilities.

Steven D. Greydanus has posted a positive review of the film, and it sounds family friendly.

If you know of families with children that have special needs, please consider sharing information about Sensory Friendly Films with them.

What a great idea — so glad to see a company reaching out to families that can’t always go to the movies!

(And for the record: I saw The Muppets on Friday and it was OUTSTANDING.)

I love that AMC is doing this, and I will share your post with a friend whose son has similar challenges so he can enjoy the film too. My husband and I loved it; I grew up as a diehard Muppet fan and I wasn’t quite prepared for the emotional reaction it invoked in me…lots of references to the old films. Keep your eyes peeled for a lovely tribute on Kermit’s ‘wall of fame’ too.
